The house
The Original Springs Hotel opened in 1867 in Okawville, a southern Illinois springs town. Indoor pool from 1893, mineral baths, a dining room, and a body of lore that includes owners who died by suicide and halls that do not stay empty. The house has closed for renovation in stretches — confirm they are seating before you drive. When it is open, it is one of the most complete haunted hotels you can actually eat in south of Springfield.
Supper, then the springs if they are running. Okawville is a detour. That is the point.
