Juliet's Tavern
The house
Juliet’s occupies a nineteenth-century building on Chicago Street in downtown Joliet — a room that has been more than one business in a shopping district older than Route 66’s fame. During renovations, an excavation crew found human bones under the house. A local team later investigated and did not leave unconvinced. That is not a colonial rumor imported for Halloween. It is a construction story. The kitchen now sends out burgers and American comfort in the same brick. Plainfield is a short drive west. If you wanted a Will County table you can actually book, this is the one that still has a host stand.
A burger and a cocktail in a room that had to be dug out first. Downtown Joliet after dark is the correct setting. Confirm hours — the dead are patient; the kitchen is not.
