Maldaner’s has been a Springfield restaurant since 1884 — a block from the Old State Capitol, in a town that has never stopped arguing with its dead. The haunt is Springfield: a dining room that has seated legislators, lobbyists, and people who did not get the last word. It is the public fine-dining table in the capital. Come for supper. The Lincoln sites are the walk before.
A serious dinner. This is not a burger haunt. Dress for Sixth Street. The horseshoe sandwich is a different Springfield religion; this room is the other one.
