The house
The Green Mill has been pouring since 1907. Al Capone kept a booth with a view of both doors. A trapdoor and tunnels under the club were the exit plan; staff still report sound and movement from masonry that is supposed to be closed. This is a working jazz room, not a museum. You pay a cover, you take a whiskey, you sit. Uptown’s most famous booth does not need a ghost hunter. It needs a set.
A whiskey and the late set. Do not sit in the booth if you came only for the story — sit in it if the house seats you. The music is the reason this room survived. The tunnels are the aftertaste.
