The house

Cigars and Stripes occupies an old house on Ogden in Berwyn, the Route 66 inner alignment. Owner Ronn Vrhel has heard the same report the customers have: a shadow in the rear hallway, voices in booths, a room that does not stay empty. A paranormal team overnighted and did not leave skeptical. Illinois Haunted Houses still lists it. The BBQ is the reason to go. The hallway is the reason you might not walk it alone after close.

Order the cue. Sit in a booth. If you hear the old voices, that is the house, not the playlist. Berwyn’s contribution to the guide is a BBQ joint that takes its ghosts without a ticket booth.
