Giant City Lodge is a Civilian Conservation Corps timber lodge in Giant City State Park, in the Shawnee hills south of Carbondale. The dining room is famous for family-style fried chicken. The haunt is the park: sandstone, woods, a southern Illinois night that does not care about your reservation. It is the southern table in this guide you can actually book. Come for the chicken. Stay if you want the dark.
