The house

Fadó occupies a River North building with a third-floor apartment in its past. American Ghost Walks calls this the most fully developed ghost story among Chicago’s Irish pubs: a young woman in a white nightgown, late 1800s or early 1900s, and a railroad brakeman who murdered her and then himself upstairs. Staff report cold spots at the back of the bar, electronics that misbehave, doors slamming in empty rooms, a hand on the shoulder when the floor behind you is empty. She is loudest around St. Patrick’s Day, which is either poetry or a scheduling problem. Come for a pint. The third floor is not on the menu.
